SO, when we got up this morning the tire was flat - scratch going to Hannible or Stanton... First we got to wait for AAA to come replace the tire with our spare. (Yes, I'm fully capable of replacing it with the cruddy little spiral jack that comes with the car, but after my little experience during the "Amazing Letterboxing Race", I didn't want to. Besides, I pay good money every year just in case I need this service, so darn it, I'm going to use the service!
Then, we needed to find a tire service and get the tire repaired - I'm not getting on the road without a spare! There are no Les Schwab stores this side of the continental divide (this country's loss!), so I asked the AAA dude, and he recommended Big O Tires down the street. The guys there were awesome, found the problem (valve stem issue?), got it repaired and it hardly cost me anything.
So, while waiting for dad & his various services, what did the kiddos do? Get caught up on their homework, of course!
Oh, I mentioned life changing things for us at the beginning of the post - I suppose I should explain... Mary's contract out here in Missouri ends this Wednesday, now that the bank they were attempting to fix has been shut down. SO - the good news is that she will get to travel with us for the rest of the trip (or until the boss calls with a new contract). The bad news is that we need to haul all her stuff along - and that's going to make packing interesting, and car-camping probably impossible. It also means we're leaving here much sooner than planned, and I need to spend the remaining time figuring out how to get all this stuff packed in a way we can still travel... (and thus, no more sight-seeing here in MO).
