Day 16: Branson to Shamrock

Wow - 450 miles today! It was a looooong day of travel, but with a lot of fun, too!  First off, we added Arkansas to our list of states...

This is the Ozarks out here, and the fall weather is starting to give us a good show.

There's lots of nice forest.

After about 80 miles of Arkansas, we thought we were going to enter into Oklahoma - but no, we entered the sovereign lands of the Cherokee Nation!  This was the first of four Indian Nations we would drive through while in Oklahoma...

Notice they fly first the American flag, the the Cherokee flag, then the Oklahoma flag.

Twice today we stopped for a meal and a meet & greet - first in Tulsa (woo-hoo, another state capital!) to meet Okie Dog, then just past Oklahoma City to meet Goofy Girl, her family & friends.  Since there were no parks we were doing, and we were putting on large miles, this was a cool way to break up the trip.

After our second meet-up, we still had miles to do.  We didn't stop until we hit Texas!  What a day...

Quick Stats:
total mileage so far - 3647
hours driving - 63
States - 13 (98 counties, 7 state capitals, 4 Indian Nations: Cherokee Nation, Muscogee (Creek) Nation, Sac and Fox Nation, Caddo-Delaware Nation)
sites/parks/monuments - 20

letterboxes - 32 (2 Blue Diamonds!)
Meet & Greets - 4 (22 Exchanges, 23 PTs)
